Paintings of Vintage Subjects

For over twenty years I have painted to express my wonder in life, and find special pleasure in depicting an earlier era. I traveled on my own to paint in Claude Monet's gardens in Giverny,France for two weeks. I also painted in Paris and in London and Oxford, England. I have enjoyed painting the southwest in Santa Fe and the west at Catalina Island. Closer to home, I find special enjoyment by painting vintage fishing lures from the 30s and 40s, like the ones my father used. Being a poet at heart, I like to think that my paintings are poetic, also. The title of my book of poems, "The Same Moon Rises," refers to the connection we all have, for that moon rises and sets for us all alike. I also paint still lifes, preferring unusual vantage points, and have done a series of "cupboard" paintings. I love doing florals especially in watercolor,as their beauty is fleeting, as the watercolor medium itself.
