Karen’s first book, The Shiniest Rock of All, was published in 1991 by Farrar Straus and Giroux. Since then she has illustrated over twenty books for children. Her watercolors have been juried into exhibitions such as the American Watercolor Society, and The Bologna, Italy’s Children’s Book Fair. If Nathan Were Here, illustrated by Karen Jerome (Skillins), received the 2000 Best Children’s Book Award by the Association of Theological Booksellers, a 2000 Blue Grass Award recipient, and the Nov/Dec. Editor’s Pick Award, in Library Talk Magazine. Publishers Weekly describes Karen’s style as ‘softly focused watercolor paintings’, School Library Journal describes Karen’s work as being ‘filled with life and feeling’. More information on Karen A.
