Douglas H Teller Paints Landscapes
Biographical Notes Douglas H Teller is originally from Michigan, but moved to Washington D.C. to pursue graduate studies, and eventually teach at the George Washington University where upon retiring he was voted Professor Emeritus status. He taught Design, Printmaking and Watercolor at the university for 35 years. He now resides on Little Gasparilla Island, a bridgeless barrier island off the SW coast of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico where he paints in his Boar's Head Cottage Studio. His subject matter is the subtropical world around him. He has had a long and distinguished career as a teacher with numerous workshops in the US, Europe and Latin America. He now teaches workshops, juries and shows extensively. His paintings are realist in nature but always with the true quality and texture of watercolor being apparent. They are not slick in nature. His work is present in private and public collections. "In this rackety world, things tend to scramble into one stretched out shriek. Maybe that's why I fell instantly for Douglas Teller's painting 'Quiet River'." "Quiet River is an uncorrupted pastoral experience, a setting for dreams". Joan Altabe, Art Critic, Sarasota Herald-Tribune, 8/29/97
