Vijay Kakde belongs to Nagpur, Maharastra, India. He holds G.D. (Art) in Drawing & Painting, M.A. (Psychology), and Ph.D., in Archaeology. He began his career as a lecturer in psychology. After about four years of college teaching he left it to become a full time artist. Worked as an illustrator for more than 35 years. He illustrated comics for 8 years. Other than working as an illustrator he teaches fashion illustration in a polytechnic. His initial interest was Batik. He has 7 solo exhibitions of batiks to his credit. Since 1996 he developed interest in Watercolor landscapes and held two solo exhibitions. His inspirations are S.H. Raza, Edger Whitney, John Yardley and Judy Wagner.

I am grateful to him.” “I love transparency, the glow and the speed of watercolors. I paint every day. For me it is Yoga. I like to paint roadscapes, mountains and temples and rural scenes.”
